Dwarf-Cartoonist's Profile Picture
Dwarf-Cartoonist

Artist | Hobbyist | Traditional Art
Netherlands
I am just an average man with an interest of comics and cartoons. I am currently making my own comic series with an own fantasy world. My family and friends even call me a new 'Tolkien', but I am just an hobbyist in drawing.

Also, due to my username, I am very fond of dwarves. Seriously, ever since I even watched Disney's 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarves' as a kid, I've grown fond of dwarves. Also in video games, when dwarves are playable, I always choose dwarves first. Dwarves are mostly sidekick characters and that needs to change sometimes. Can't dwarves be heroes too?

All my Comics and Cartoons are drawn with pens.

Because my native language is Dutch, all my comics are written in Dutch. But each page will be translated panel for panel in their description.

Some rules here:
- If you have a request, you can ask and then I'll say; Yes or no. It also depends on my current situation.
- I'd like to keep my comment sections clean. So type nice or not at all! I've no patience for arguments in public. If you do have something personal to say, just send me a private message.
- No foul language uses or swearing, keep it polite.
- You are not allowed to use my work for anything.
- If you respect me, then I will simply respect you.

If you break these rules, it will first start with a warning. if you continue, then you'll be blocked.

Nederantansie scenes 6: Young dwarven adventurer
This scene takes place around 30 years before the events of Book 1.

In this scene, you'll see a much younger Bors travelling together with his late uncle Bran Stone-Axe, whom is the youngest sibling of Borfur Stone-Axe. Bran is known for travelling alot around the lands of Veranor and one of the reasons that makes Bors want to travel too. Sadly, he did not live to see the day of Bors becoming an adventurer himself. May Bran rest in peace.

Today, I feel a bit proud of myself for performing a good deed today.

On my way to work, I've found a wallet on the road with all it's ID card, credit card and insurance premium and some money. My colleagues later founded out where he lives. After my work day, I was bicycling my way to the adress of that man and delivered back his wallet.

He was happy to see it's wallet again because he just lost it this morning and I was thanked for bringing it back to him. Usually when you lose something, it is gone forever. But sometimes you get you stuff back if more people do the same like me. So I feel proud of myself for this.
Dwarven fanart from different concepts
This picture shows some dwarves from various published concepts, from comics to novels and video games. I also tried to give it a more spoiler free discription. The characters from left to right are:

1. Douwe Dabbert
Created by
: The writer Thom Roep and illustrator Piet Wijn.
Role: Main protagonist.
Known from: A series of comics featuring his adventures.
Homeworld: Our world around the 17th/18th century.
Depicted in: His own series of comics by the same name of the character.
Little description: Douwe Dabbert is a an old drifter. Nobody knows his exact origins, as he was already an old man during his debut. Douwe calls himself a human, but because of his short stature and great white beard, he had been called a dwarf or a gnome. He carries a magical knapsack, that conjures up everthing he needs. If he is hungry, it conjures a piece of bread for example. His comics were never translated into English and my guess is about depictions that might be controversy in several countries (nudity for example). Douwe is generally a friendly old chap, but he stand up against villains if needed. As long he has his knapsack with him, he'll be safe from harm.

2. Korgan Bloodaxe
Created by
: The gamestudio Bioware.
Role: Optional companion to the player's character.
Known from: The RPG game of Baldur's Gate.
Homeworld: The Forgotten Realms. (Dungeons and Dragons)
Depicted in: Baldur's Gate 2.
Little description: Korgan is a bloodthirsty dwarven mercenary. He can be recruited by the player as a companion for his quest. Korgan has a love for slaughter and gladly jumps into the fray. He also has a love for gold and hates when he has to give it away. He appeares to be quick to anger and loudmouthed. Korgan might seem as a bloodthirsty lunatic, but he is not stupid enough to go on a rampage.

3. Tungdil "Goldhand" Bolofar
Created by
: The writer Markus Heitz.
Role: Main protagonist in the first two novels.
Known from: A series of novels called "The Dwarves".
Homeworld: Girdlegard.
Depicted in: "The Dwarves" novels.
Little description: Tungdil is a dwarf that is raised among the humans under the guidence of a wizard. He only knows the culture about dwarves from books. His story starts peacefully first, but then come in conflict with all kinds of things like dwarven politics, fighting orcs for survival, chased down by evil elf-like creatures and a way to stop evil for good and saving Girdleguard.

4. Yeslick Orothair
Created by: The gamestudio Bioware.
Role: Optional companion to the player's character.
Known from: The RPG game of Baldur's Gate.
Homeworld: The Forgotten Realms. (Dungeons and Dragons)
Depicted in: Baldur's Gate 1.
Little description: A wise dwarven cleric that can be rescued by the player. Yeslick is a friendly chap that can cast healing spells. He is quick to trust people, but that turned to be his downfall before his capture. Yeslick is also calm and respect people that doing good things.

5. Bardin Goreksson
Created by
: The gamestudio Fatshark.
Role: A playable character.
Known from: The multiplayer co-op hack and slash game: Warhammer End Times Vermintide.
Homeworld: Warhammer Fantasy.
Depicted in: Warhammer End Times Vermintide.
Little description: Bardin is a playable character in Vermintide. Loves fighting and is stubbornly optimistic about everything. He is also a veteran that had fought a race of ratlike humanoids known as Skaven (and main enemy of the game). He sure bickers alot with his companions.

Nederantansie Lore 17: Courtship and Love
Courtship and love is varied among the races of Nederantansie. By most races it is quite the same but a bit different from the rest. Marriage is also common among most races, but sometimes regarded as a duty to one's family. This is a description about courtship and love about the four races from the lands of Veranor.

Humans:
Among the humans, marriage is both a celebration of tradition and a practical decision. Through a favorable marriage, one can make valuable connections, improve one's social standing, and secure financial stability for oneself and one's family. Especially among the nobility. Love is not necessary for a successful marriage but is nonetheless desirable, as it makes the union stronger. Nobles and knights are also only allowed to court noblewomen. If a knight falls in love with a peasantgirl, than it is viewed as a disgrace and vice versa. Same goes to noblewoman with a peasant. It is even better if the Noblewoman is of higher descent than the knight, because that brings more power and a change to get a higher noble rank. Divorce is unthinkable among the nobility, because it could break a union between noble families apart. Many petty wars has started only because of a noblewoman wants to divorce from her abusive husband.

Human pregmancies takes nine months.

Elves:
Because elves are physically immortal, they don't really bother with love in their early century of life. But they will start to find love just as important as living their life, because, according to the elves, love is eventually all what life is about. When elves bond with each other, they are also bonded for life. Standing together in dire needs. And like humans, marriage make valuable connections. However, if the partner died suddenly (like during a battle or caused by an accident for example), then it is common that the other partner would die aswell out of grief. If he/she didn't die out of sorrow, then he/she would never have partner again for many years out of respect for their former partner. Divorce is taboo among elves, because they believe that there will be never a reason to divorce from an elf.

Elven pregmancies takes nine years.

Dwarves:
One important thing for dwarves is to grow a beard if he wants to be attractive to the dwarf ladies. Which is also one of the reasons why all male dwarves wear beards. The bigger the beard, the better the change to meet a dwarf lady. A shaven male dwarf is not only unattractive, but also shunned upon by the rest of the dwarven community. Both a male and female dwarf usually meet each other in a Mead House. While drinking some alcoholic drinks, they watch each other which one would make the first move. Suprisingly, it is usually the female. When a dwarf couple is married, the female would start to grow a beard aswell because of traditions, although some dwarven females remain to keep a shaven face but that is not frowned upon.

Dwarven pregmancies takes two years.

Gnomes:
Gnome communities are small, so their life partners are usually someone they have known for many years, like a childhood friend. But gnomes don't think about love or courtship until they have reached their hundredth birthday. Marriage among the gnomes are simple ceremonies, that usually takes place on a clear night sky. At a Meeting Stone, the engaged couple will swear an oath to be loyal to each other for an eternity and proceed their first kiss while being applauded by their relatives and friends whom are attending at the ceremony. When a gnome couple marries, they will go on a honeymoon by travelling around lands for a decade. Like elves, gnome partners are for life. When they both reach an age around 400 years, while knowing that their end is near, they will travel together around for one final time, untill they die together.

Gnome pregmancies takes 1.5 years.

Other facts:
1. Relationships between two different races exist. But it's usually frowned upon and not a common sight. You'll risk being disownd by your family even for doing so.
2. Relationships between two of the same gender exist aswell. But that's more in secrecy to avoid controversies.

The characters on this picture from above to below and left to right are:
A human knight courting a female noblewoman.
An Elf maid kissing a male dwarf on the forehead.
And two lovey-doovey gnomes.

Sneaky and Dillie - Thieves from different Realms.
This is something I'd like to draw for some time now, because of a coincidence.

This picture features SnowStoat's dwarf character Sneaky and my gnome character Dillie. Both of them are crazy about jewels and both are now argueing about it. Sneaky demands Dillie to hand over the jewels, but he refuse, which will probably turn into a fight for it.

But Dillie only steals jewels whenever he sees one, like he gets enchanted by it. Sneaky steals jewels because she can.
